Experienced Lake County Judge Working to Make the Courts More Efficient

Lake County residents deserve a court system that is efficient and “people-friendly.” As an experienced judge and attorney, I am working diligently to make our court system even better.

Despite the hard work of many in our court system, sometimes cases can drag on. I have seen this firsthand, as a lawyer and now even more as a judge. I am working to change this. My courtroom is run efficiently and on time. I do not allow for unnecessary delays on technicalities, which are often used to delay cases to increase attorney fees. And I effectively prioritize cases to ensure individuals can receive justice in a timely fashion.

I also work to make the court process more user-friendly, especially for those individuals dealing with the court system without legal representation. To ensure a fair process for all, I am working to make our courts follow a more common-sense approach instead of being overly regulated through legalese. I talk directly and clearly to everyone in my courtroom, treating all with respect and making sure that each person has the opportunity to be heard.

Another important aspect of our role as judges is to serve as examples to the community. I seek out opportunities to explain the legal process to students and adults. It is a memorable experience for a child to be able to meet a judge, and it helps foster respect for our legal process and emphasizes the importance of being a good citizen.

I am known as a dedicated and hard-working judge in Lake County. I love doing the hard work and serving my community. I take cases from my fellow judges to help them if they’re too busy. I take on extra cases to help clear up backlogs. I frequently cover late duty to assist other judges.

It is an incredible honor to be able to serve the public in this capacity, and I never take it for granted. When my wife and I found out that I would have the opportunity to serve as a judge, we discussed it for a long time. To do this, I would have to take a significant pay cut and our family would have to make sacrifices. Ultimately, we both knew that this was the right thing to do.

Please support me so that I may continue to work tirelessly to make our court system more efficient.

Thank you,

Joe Salvi
